Allied Magazine & Allied Health Support Services support AAHA 2019
The Australian Allied Health Awards aim to establish the opportunity for every Australian Allied Health professional to feel recognition and pride, as well as to feel part of the larger Australian healthcare community.
2018 saw the very first Australian Allied Health Awards held in Brisbane. With over 200 nominees across 17 award categories and more than 150 Allied Health and Business professionals in attendance at the gala awards night, Co-founders Chris McCarroll (Allied Magazine) and Sarena Jones (Allied Health Support Services) knew that they had to continue the momentum into 2019.
“These awards are designed to recognise, inspire, promote innovation and excellence, as well as healthcare impact within the Allied Health community. With categories such as Occupational Therapist of the Year, Dietitian of the Year, Exercise Physiologist of the Year, Rural and Remote Excellence - it’s understandable why there’s been such overwhelming support and excitement about the Awards! We couldn’t be prouder,” explains Sarena Jones, Allied Health Support Services
The Awards, designed to recognise the hard work and dedication of the best and brightest stars in the sector, were a huge success, with members of the Allied Health community travelling from all over the country to attend.
“It was a terrific evening and wonderful to be a part of. Each award recipient spoke with passion and commitment about their work and its impact. Thanks to the organising team for such a fantastic opportunity for professionals in the sector to come together and celebrate the work we do every day” Leanne Healey, Every Independence, Winner – Occupational Therapist of the Year.
With a panel of industry experts, each nomination goes through a meticulous judging process.
“It’s really great to be able to bring the industry together like this and celebrate what we do. There’s nothing like this currently so it was excellent to be able to celebrate us and remind ourselves that what we do to help people is amazing and we should be proud of that.” says 2018 judge, Justin Johnson (Physiotherapist & Exercise Physiologist).
